After each hand or round of play the dealer rotates the chip to the left so everyone gets a chance to deal.
Pre-Flop
Before the cards are dealt the Big Blind and Little (small ) Blind must place their bets first. The amount of the initial bet is predetermined among the people playing. The little blind always bets half of the big blind. The position of the little blind is left of the dealer and the big blind sits left to him.
Starting with the player to the left the dealer deals one card at a time until two are face down for each player. The players look at the card and starting left the Big blind he can call, fold, or raise. If no player raises the big blind then the person may check. The players can re-raise after an initial raise but if a player raises he may not raise again unless he was re-raised. The betting stops after all have folded or called the last raise.
Flop
The dealer first burns a card, and then deals 3 face down. He then flips the 3 up and this is called the flop. These are the five community cards that all the players can use, with the first 2 to make the best possible hand. The player who is the little blind is the first to act no and on every round of betting after. They can make a desiccation as in pre-flop play and choose to check if they do not want to bet or fold. Many people suggest to quit here if you don't have a good shot at winning. The betting continues until everyone has folded, called the last bet or raise.
Turn
The dealer burns another card and puts one card face up. There is another round of Betting with small blind starting it.
River
After another burn and flip of the card. (this is called the river card) There is one final round of betting. If all fold the last player who did not fold gets the pot at anytime in the game.
Showdown
A showdown occurs when that river card is shown and the last call is made between a few players or the entire table. The round of betting continues with the last person to bet.

Your actions at this time are crucial to you winning tournaments or losing them.
Last Note:
You will find out that two major games exist No limit Hold'em~ and Limit Holdem Poker. Limit means you can only raise to a predetermined amount but on no limit you can go all in and there is no limit on what you can bet at any given time.
