Good play from the blind positions is very important with winning at Texas Holdem. Its amazing on how few people focus on the blind positions and don't consider it any different then outside of the blinds.
The difference between good holdem players and the ones that are not so good is on how they bet different situations. Everyone gets a certain margin of luck and their are hands that are turned down that the good holdem player will play. Now the situations that they play the marginal hands is the when opportunity is in favor. So they are constantly looking at the paper and when in a blind position might bet a pair oppose to folding it outside of the blinds. Know your odds and get to know the people you are playing with fast.
What happens in blind play is just that. The players that take the most out of their times when they are in blinds will win over the long term. If you start to play from the blind instead of focusing on attacking it you will see others will take suite as well. The more people who do this the more hands that are played and the more opportunity it is to see people get frustrated going on tilt.
Some players have a hard time seeing the concept of playing when you are the underdog. If you have someone raise your big blind and everyone folds then you are getting 3.5 to 1 on calling the raise. Always take the most profitable situation. When you are getting 3.5 to 1 you don't have to win all these situations just a few to make a big difference in you chip stack.
One of the most intimidating plays in Texas Holdem is to call a raise before the flop from the big blind, and check/call after the flop when the flop comes out a bunch of low rages. Watch this sometime. Now the point is not to advocate this play often but to emphasize that playing against a player in the big blind is a difficult thing to do. The range of hands they can pick up is not easy to pin point. It's very hard to play against a tough tricky player in the big blind who could be playing a wide variety of cards. Approach with caution.
Hopefully this gives you a little insight out playing from the big blind.
