When playing Texas Holdem it can be an emotional roller coaster. Within a few minutes you can find yourself on top of the world and then lose a huge hand knocking the wind out of you. The question that many Texas holdem players ponder over is when is it time to quit. When have you won enough or have came to the conclusion that today is just not your day. Sometimes its better to throw in the towl but you don't want to quit to early either has you might be on the verge of a comeback.
Of course with poker I cannot tell you a sure fire exact time to leave the game but here are just a few dos and don't that can help guide you on your decision.
Don't Quit Your No Limet Holdem Game Because:
* You are losing. No one is telling you to play until you don't have a dime left but as we all know poker is a game of short term luck. Some players with limited experience will catch a few cards and steal a pot or two but if you are armed with the know how and different strategies on this site then its just a matter of time before things turn around. You don't want to get discouraged to quick when the odds swing in your favor based on the way that you play. You don't want to get in the habit of quitting everytime your down you could be stealing some big opportunities from yourself.
* You're Winning. On the flip side of this coin many amateurs will jump in and steal a few pots then call it quits. They play til they are ahead a little bit and if they are not continue to play in order to get even. This usually results in disasterous results and over the long term can be costly. If you are winning there is no reason to believe that your winning streak will not continue until there is evidence to to prove it.
Do Quit your No Limit Holdem Game Because:
* You have reached the point at which you are willing to lose. Basically when you go to play some Texas Holdem whether it be a few tournaments or one big one. With the many buy ins that Holdem tournaments have its important to know what you are willing to lose. For example if that number is $200 once you are down that much call it quits. Now you want to set it low enough to allow for swings so you can bounce back if you set it not low enough you could quit too soon. Use your instinct in a lot of these cases and don't let greed affect your gut feelings.
* You are just losing focus. Many players look for you to go what they call on Tilt this is when you are most vulnerable whether it be a mood swing or your focus. You want to quit playing this game when you are no longer focused to play anyone can lose a few hands and its no big deal but if this continues you may not have that focus anymore and this could be in result to a lot of different things whether it be tired, hungry or just to distracted.
* The game is bad or goes bad. Sometimes you will be playing Texas holdem and the game takes a turn for the worst. You start by raking in some good posts and one by one they drop out and a few sharks come in trying to take you down. Then all of a sudden you are in a game full of more sharks than fish. (better players) its time to go look for new waters and put some winnings in your pocket.
