Okay everyone knows that a pair of aces is the best starting hand that you can have but what are the worst ones? To become a master at Texas Holdem hand selection is key. Many will sit down at the table and like a machine gun play every hand until they run out of bullets (Chips). So it is very important to know that hands that you should not play. In order here they are.

1.) 2-7

7-2 off suit is considered to be the worst hand in Texas Hold'em. You cannot make a straight with them (four cards between 2 and 7) Even if they are suited, you will end up best case scenario with a low flush or low pair.

2.) 2-8

Same problem as above, only you have an 8 instead of 7. Not much of a high card and this should be a foldem hand.

3.) Tie: 3-8 & 3-7

You cannot make a straight with 3-8 or 3-7 just bad hands all around.

4.) 2-6

Well if you get the miracle flop of 3-4-5 you will have a straight, but someone who got the 6-7 will have a higher one. If you are lucky and catch a flush someone will probably have a higher one. Bad odd hand

5.) Tie: 2-9, 3-9, & 4-9

The only common good thing these hands have is that 9. If the 9 pairs it can be beat by anyone holding a pocket high pair. Its an easy hand to fall into thinking you have the high pair with a board full of low cards and can lead to losing a lot of money. No straights to fill the gaps either.

6.) 2-10

This is a crazy hand where professional Doyle Brunson captured 2 bracelets with it but its not a good hand. He is a true professional with 1000's of logged hours. This hand will get you into more trouble than wins for sure.

7.) 5-9

People play this hand because its fun, but if you are playing to win its not a good idea. You might nab a pot or two but over the long term this is a statistical loser.

8.) Tie: 4-7, 4-8, 5-8, 3-6...

All these hands hardly ever win especially when not suited. Just toss them and don't look back. Unless you see the flop for free end it here.

9.) Face Card + Low Card, Unsuited

One of the most common mistakes poker players make is that when they see the face card play it up. In most cases these hands are losers. They may when a few pots by pairing the face card, but more often than not you will lose some serious chips playing this.

10.) Ace + Low Card, Unsuited

This is another common beginner mistake, playing the ace. In heads up its a fine hand but 4 or more this hand should not be played if you have a raise in front of you. With the Ace low card you will get kicked around a few times. The higher ace will beat you and you will feel crushed.
